A Simple Mindful Meditation
The days where nothing seems simple. The days where meditation feels like a complex mathematical equation.
Who has been there? I know I sure have. There are some days when we feel disconnected. The days where you spill coffee on your favorite pants during the morning commute. The days where the kids don’t want to eat anything you’ve worked so hard to prepare. The days where your boss wanted something yesterday and you’re not even in today yet. All of these days, these moments, and these challenges present themselves to us and we have little control over any of them. We can’t control accidents, other people, time, or much of anything that happens in this world. The only control we have is our response to what happens to us.
We are much bigger than the minor irritations that arise to further add to that amazing character we were all born with. When you are feeling disconnected, out of sync, or imbalanced, there is a very simple mindful meditation I want to share with you.
The Breakdown:
Get quiet
Breathe
Close eyes
Check-in with self
Body scan
Breathe again
Thank the universe for gifting you this moment
In more detail:
First, find a quiet place. Lock yourself into the bathroom if need be. Use headphones if the noise surrounding you is too distracting. Now, breathe. I mean really, breathe. In for 3, hold for 3, out for 3, repeat. Do a quick self-check-in. Start at your head and make your way to your toes, do a body scan. Breathe. Keep breathing. In for 3, hold for 3, out for 3, repeat. Now, where does your body do you feel heavy, stuck, or imbalanced? Breathe into that space. Imagine a ray of light beaming into that space, filling it with love. Breathe again. In for 3, hold for 3, out for 3, repeat. Slowly open your eyes, thank the universe for this moment. Namaste.
I hope this brings balance to the day ahead. Be well, my beauty.
